Captain William Henry Smyth
Nov 21, 1836 No. 6 The Crescent, Bedford, England (map)
150mm f/17.6 refractor by Tully 1827
A very delicate double star. A 8, white; B 14, pale blue; and the two point upon a third star at a distance in the np quadrant. This object is in the space between the two Fishes, nearly in mid-distance between η Andromedae and θ Ceti, where A is the apex of a triangle formed with two other stars, one to the sp and the other to the np. It is No. 634 of John Hershel's Second Series, and with its minute companion forms a very delicate, though wide, object. From the small star's bearing no illumination, the angle and distance are mere estimations.
[The B companion here is Gaia DR2 2579772935271749376 at mag 12.8 shown to be a background star by both parallax and proper motion. As a result of high proper motion HD7047 is moving away and the star that was once np as Smyth notes above is now sp. at 56" separation. The third star mentioned is likely Gaia DR2 2579776263870751360 itself a close double in the Gaia data]― A Cycle of Celestial Objects Vol II, The Bedford Catalogue, William Henry Smyth, 1844
