Seeing: 6 Transparency: 7 Moon: 0%

Pale orange with two 9th magnitude companions 2' north making a small, coarse triangle, Smyth notes the companions as blue and violet, this is a case where any colors assigned to such faint stars are likely an illusion, otherwise a set of stars that does not warrant much attention

Captain William Henry Smyth
Nov 14, 1834    No. 6 The Crescent, Bedford, England (map)
150mm f/17.6 refractor by Tully 1827

A star pointing to a distant pair, close under the Ram's fore-foot; half-way on a line projected from ζ Ceti to α Arietis. A 7½, yellowish; B 8, light blue; C 9½, violet. This is a coarse object, of which A is assumed as a pointer to B, a star which bears from it 183°.7, with Δ RA= 4s.1; and is the apex of a scalene triangle, formed with another star there, the shortest side of which is here measured as B C.
