IC 223 is a nearby, high-surface-brightness Magellanic irregular galaxy. The bar and arms are very knotty (I measured positions for two of the brightest seen on the 2MASS J-band image), and the position of the entire object is to some extent a matter of opinion. I've adopted that of the patchy bar as seen on the same 2MASS J-band image as the best compromise, but any of the others listed would do as well.― IC Notes by Harold Corwin
