Observing Notes

Harold Corwin

IC 2007 = IC 2008. Swift found this twice, the first time in October of 1896, the second time in December 1897. His two positions are well off the true positions and, of course, don't agree with each other, either. So, two IC numbers.

However, his descriptions, especially his notes ("F * in contact nf" and "eeeF * v close nf") makes it clear that the two observations not only point at the same galaxy, but identify the galaxy itself.
