A compact and rich open cluster above θ CMa, distinct and partially resolved, about 5' across, half a dozen brighter members define the cluster within a triangular area filled with a faint haze, part of a large cluster and nebula complex including IC2177, Gum 1, NGC2335, Cr 465, Cr 466 and more, splendid low power field

A double star in a loose cluster, under the Unicorn's chest, and about 8° north-east of Sirius, in a direction pointed out by leading a line from Aldebaran over Bellatrix, and nearly twice as far again. A 9, yellow; B 12, dusky. This is a scattered group of brightish stars, in an irregular lozenge form, and consists chiefly of three vertical rows, having four individuals in each; several are of the 9th magnitude, and reddish.
