A modest brightening amongst a rich galactic starfield, 10-15' in diameter noted by panning across the position, a coarse scattering of a dozen or so 10th to 12th magnitude stars are superimposed upon the brighter region, faint, roughly circular, difficult and confirmed by position with respect to NGC 2409

Sorting this out using the survey imagery and the description in Archinal & Hynes... The glow observed is not background stars or a dust obscured cluster, rather it is the emission nebula Sh2-302 = vdB 97, the cluster Bochum 5 is the associated scattering of 10th to 12th magnitude stars centered on the 9.6 magnitude HD 59986, a cluster with nebulosity
