IC 2297 is a star, verified on a print of the original plate. Curious about the disagreement of the 2MASS PSC position with the one I measured on the first Palomar Sky Survey, I looked at the proper motion measured by UCAC: -158.0 and -94.0 milliarcsec/year in RA and Dec, respectively. No wonder the position is different! See IC 2262 for information about Wolf's original plate.― IC Notes by Harold Corwin
