IC 2331 is a star, verified on a print of the original plate. I had noted this as a close double star when I first went over the field many years ago -- I was wrong. It is a single star, but there is an extremely faint galaxy just to the northwest. There is no trace of it on Wolf's plate, so it has nothing to do with IC 2331. See IC 2262 for more about the plate.― IC Notes by Harold Corwin
