IC 2880 is a double star, confirmed on the print of the original plate. The image is dominated by the northern star, however, and there is no trace of the southern star on the print.
There is, however, another star, also seen on the print, just to the northwest of the double; this third star is not mentioned by Wolf, so apparently did not figure in his recognition of the object.― IC Notes by Harold Corwin
