IC 3423 is a star close to Schwassmann's position a few arcminutes west- northwest of NGC 4477. His measured position is within 5-6 arcsec of the star, yet both the Harvard and Mt. Wilson observers listed I3423 as "not found." Dreyer copied the position correctly into IC2.― IC Notes by Harold Corwin
