When I first went over this object, I had this to say about it:is a very faint double or triple galaxy found by Javelle. He noted a star near to the northeast -- this star may actually be a compact galaxy; it appears to be slightly nebulous. But I suspect it really is a star, superposed on a plume or maybe a third galaxy in the faint system. Now (October 2018) with the SDSS image available, it is clear that the object I called a second galaxy is simply the southern arm of the main object; and that the superposed star just to the northeast is, in fact, just a superposed star. There is a very faint background galaxy 0.2 arcminutes to the southwest, but I had not noted that earlier. All this is in the position file, hopefully now sorted out correctly.― IC Notes by Harold Corwin
