IC 4693 is a triple star (the northern star has a faint companion just to the southwest, but I do not think it figured in the discovery of the object). Bigourdan tells us that this was found by a "M. Callandreau", but gives no other details about its discovery. He does note two neighboring stars, though -- they are just where he places them with respect to M. Callandreau's "nova", so the identity is secure. His three micrometric measurements pin it down, too.― IC Notes by Harold Corwin
