46cm f/4.5 Newtonian, Deep Violet @ 175x
Seeing: 8 Transparency: 7 Moon: 0%

A very dark void in an extraordinarily rich starfield, while there are modestly darker lanes in the field the body of B90 is notably darker with no impinging stars, the central starless void is about 5' across

46cm f/4.5 Newtonian, Deep Violet @ 175x
Seeing: 6 Transparency: 7 Moon: 0%

A small dark zone about 10' across, ill defined edges surround a very dark center with no stars, embedded in a heavy galactic starfield with a bright glow filling the field away from the nebula

May 28, 2006    Gila, NM (map)
46cm f/4.5 Deep Violet

Small, very opaque, edges are not distinct, elongated N-S with a less opaque extension trailing to the south, one of the better Barnard objects in the catalogue set in a thick galactic star field

E.E. Barnard
25cm f/5 Astrograph

Irregular, elongated, 3' N and S. In an irregular dusky space 13' in diameter. There are many similar dark spots in this region, but this one is perhaps the most distinct and is fairly characteristic of the others."
