Nothing particularly notable seen at the historic coordinates for this cluster, verified the position against the chart and starfield, located in an extremely rich galactic starfield with some mottling visible
Corwin notes a clump of stars 2 minutes preceeding may be the object found by John Herschel, this is visible around and to the southeast of the 8th magnitude star HD 167498, while possibly Hershel's object this is not a convincing cluster in the eyepiece, Archinal & Hynes list this object as an asterism
