Observing Notes

Harold Corwin

IC 1424 is a star about 0.7 arcmin southeast of the nucleus of NGC 7190. Bigourdan has only one measurement of it, and complains that it is very difficult to see because of its proximity to the NGC galaxy. The two objects are clear on the DSS.

The galaxy chosen by Wolfgang is much too faint to have been seen by Bigourdan. In any case, his measurement of the star with respect to N7190 leaves no doubt about the identification.
