IC 2096 is a line of three stars on Isaac Roberts's plate of the field around NGC 1665. See IC 2091 for more on this plate.
Robert's description is interesting: "Small right-hand spiral nebula; with stellar nucleus; elongated; indications of condensations." As with IC 2092, I suspect a defect was involved with the stars.― IC Notes by Harold Corwin
