Observing Notes

Harold Corwin

IC 2513 = IC 2514. This is the eastern of a pair of galaxies, though Swift called IC 2513 the "south-preceding" of two, a mistake copied by Dreyer into the IC. Swift got the direction right in his entry for IC 2514 ("south-following"), but Dreyer again missed with "north-following."

As with the western of the pair (IC 2511 = IC 2512, which see), the identities are clinched by Swift's notes about the stars near to the east.
