IC 3951 has a defect superposed on the original plate, clearly visible on the print I examined. Wolf noted the second image, and suggested that the object might be a double star immersed in nebulosity. No trace of the second "object" appears on POSS1, however. See IC 3636 for more about the discovery plate.― IC Notes by Harold Corwin
