IC 3984 is probably a blended image, a star with two galaxies about 28 arcsec west. While Wolf's position is for the star, the brighter galaxy looks like it is the object marked on the print of the original plate. I've given positions for all three in the main table.
The SDSS further clarifies (or complicates!) this. The star is actually a double, while the "two galaxies" actually resolve into a galaxy and a star, with another star to the south, and another fainter galaxy to the southeast. I've adopted SDSS positions for all six objects.― IC Notes by Harold Corwin
