Malcolm Thomson reasonably suggests that this object is the line of three stars in the correct position angle (100 degrees) just an arcminute or so southeast of Stewart's position. The galaxy (ESO 327-G003) taken by ESO as the IC object, +1 minute in RA and -2 arcmin in Dec, is much too faint to have been picked up on the 1-hour Bruce plate. The position angle does not match well, either.
