Observing Notes

Harold Corwin

IC 4693 is a triple star (the northern star has a faint companion just to the southwest, but I do not think it figured in the discovery of the object). Bigourdan tells us that this was found by a "M. Callandreau", but gives no other details about its discovery. He does note two neighboring stars, though -- they are just where he places them with respect to M. Callandreau's "nova", so the identity is secure. His three micrometric measurements pin it down, too.
