IC 5226 is ESO 533- G045 = MCG -04-53-010. Swift found this the same night as he did IC 5225 = NGC 7294. Though his positions by this time in his life are so bad that it is almost impossible to identify systematic offsets within one night's observations, this is one case where it works: his RA's for this and for IC 5225 are off in the same direction and by similar amounts (36 seconds for IC 5225, and 48 seconds for this).
This also means that his declination is exactly one degree too far north. But when his position is corrected, we find a galaxy that matches his description ("eeeF, pL, R, no * nr") very well. However, Swift apparently based his additional comment "nf of 2" on his written positions because the galaxy is actually the "sf of 2."
In any event, the identification is reasonably secure.― IC Notes by Harold Corwin
