18 Apr 2012 Hale Pohaku, HI (map)
46cm f/4.5 Newtonian, Deep Violet @ 175x

Very large, bright, a nice edge-on galaxy, a span of 20'x5' aligned northeast-southwest, some mottling, otherwise little structure to be seen, no notable core

2 Mar 2011 Hale Pohaku, HI (map)
46cm f/4.5 Newtonian, Deep Violet @ 175x

Large! a smudge of light across the field, 15'x4' northeast-southwest, no core, no dust lane

11 Jun 2010 Hale Pohaku, HI (map)
46cm f/4.5 Newtonian, Deep Violet @ 175x

Large! almost 20' across, a streak of light from one side of the field to the other, elongated 10:1 southwest-northeast, no core or dust lane visible, indeed the lack of any visible structure is remarkable
