20cm f/6 Newtonian, Cave Astrola @ 102x
Seeing: 8 Transparency: 7 Moon: 0%

The companion galaxy to M51, smaller, round, connected to the larger by a faint extension and about 5' north

Apr 6, 2007    Hale Pohaku, HI (map)
15cm f/5 Newtonian, Primero @ 97x
Seeing: 8 Transparency: 7 Moon: 0%

Small, bright core, brighter than NGC5194, round with no other structure noted, connected to NGC5194 by a tidal tail of stars forming a glowing bridge, clearly interacting

May 8, 2005    Caballo Loco Ranch, Pima Co., AZ (map)
46cm f/4.5 Deep Violet

The Whirlpool! or at least the companion, round, stellar nucleus, appears connected to the larger spiral

24cm Reflector

9-1/3 in. speculum showed plainly outer end of spiral and junction [from NGC5194] with smaller nebula.
