Big! Bright! obvious in the 40mm finder, a coarse assemblage of 8th to 11th magnitude stars about 20' in diameter, the main body of brighter stars in a swath extending 20' northeast to southwest and about 10' wide, rich, fully resolved, a wonderful view that fills the field

90mm f/12 APO Refractor Violet Haze
Bright, large, a distinct cluster in a heavy galactic starfield, very distinct in binoculars but coarse and less distinct in the 90mm at low power, about a hundred 8-10 magnitude stars in a 1° area, the main body is strung along a NE-SW axis, visible to the naked eye as a knot of stars in the body of the Milky Way

Very fine, with star 7 mg. in large field; eye object. Baxendell found var T. among outliers; compare to M80 in Scorpio. Between it and θ Ser, nearer the former, is a beautiful large cloud of stars [IC4756], chiefly 8 and 9 mg., a nearer part apparently of the Galaxy; visible to the naked eye, and requiring a large field.― Celestial Objects for Common Telescopes, T.
