Beautiful! A distinct light blue color is the first impression, bright! holds magnification well revealing a two shell structure, a bright round inner shell and a quite faint outer shell, no central void, no central star observed even at 350x (8mm Radian)

46cm f/4.5 Deep Violet

Fairly bright, slightly bluish disk, no other detail obvious, averted vision appears to show a star involved with the nebulosity but not centered, the edges of the disk are well defined

24cm Reflector

Small but very bright. La. sees nucleus and two oval rings, confirmed by Lick photos, 10 sec. exposure showing nucleus and one ring, 20 sec. two rings. The outer ring seems to grow in intensity, as exposure lengthens, much more slowly than inner ring and nucleus. Barnard nucleus var. 12-15? My 9-1/3in. shows bluish disk with wooly border, and suspicion of dark centre. Huggins, 8-in.; annular, greenish blue; spectrum four bright lines. Three small stars np, nearest 12.6 : 63°.2 : 51".3.
