A stunning and rich open cluster at the base of Scorpio, lovely in binoculars and the telescope, large, rich, fully resolved, filling the field with bright stars, a central group about 5' across is a bright cluster of several dozen 5-7 magnitude stars within the larger cluster mass

Very bright!! conspicuous to the unaided eye in the lower reach of Sco, bright member stars give a coarse appearance, together with the larger Trumpler24 give the aspect of a comet

Brilliant cluster near the bottom of Scorpio, naked eye object, rich, bright, dominated by a handful of 6th magnitude stars, well over a hundred members scattered in a 15' area, the whole complex gives the impression of a comet low on the horizon below Scorpio with NGC6231 as the coma and Trumpler 24 the tail
