20cm f/6 Newtonian, Cave Astrola @ 136x
Seeing: 7 Transparency: 6 Moon: 0%
Located on the southwest margin of the rich cluster M35 yet visually very distinct, a 5' patch of haze at low power, using a bit more magnification reveals a partially resolved cluster with stars 12th magnitude and fainter, rich, the entire region is simply splendid, a low power sweep revealing an area rich with clusters, bright stars, and filled with rich galactic starfield

28cm f/10 SCT, NexStar 11" Gypsy @ 233x
Seeing: 6 Transparency: 6 Moon: 0%
A beautiful cluster of innumerable faint stars in a distinct 5' area, resolved, very rich, in a dense Milky Way starfield

46cm f/4.5 Newtonian, Deep Violet @ 175x
Seeing: 7 Transparency: 6 Moon: 0%
At low magnification a faint unresolved patch, with more magnification it resolves into a very rich cluster of faint stars about 5' across, quite the contrast to M35 seen 30' northwest

Dec 3, 2004 Sentinel, AZ (map)
46cm f/4.5 Deep Violet
Very rich! dim, just resolved into innumerable stars with slightly higher power, fan shaped with a field of brighter stars for contrast, M35 is just outside the field 23' to the northeast, a line of slightly brighter stars on the west side, rich star field surrounds

28cm f/10 SCT Nexstar 11
Beautiful cluster in the margin of M35, a chain of brighter stars leads south from the large cluster to 2158, compact, rich, dim, dozens of stars barely resolved in a 5' patch

24cm Reflector
About 1/2° sp,[of M35] just beyond a group of outliers, is NGC2158 (H. VI 17), a faint dim cloud of very minute stars.― Celestial Objects for Common Telescopes, T. W. Webb, 1917
