IC 3866 is a faint double galaxy, not clearly resolved on the original plate. Wolf must have noticed some irregularity in the image, however, as he suggested it might be a cluster. Perhaps the plumes from the southern galaxy are included in the image, too, though they does not show up as individual objects on the print.
