Javelle's offsets point exactly at the fainter lenticular, rather than at the brighter elliptical nearby. Perhaps he mistook the brighter object as a star, though it should have been clearly nebulous in the Nice 28-inch.
Until October 2018, I had Javelle's object labeled "IC 1194A" and the brighter galaxy called "IC 1194". Given that Javelle's observation is so clear, I see no reason not to adopt his object as the real IC 1194. So, I have switched the labels on the galaxies.
