IC 3218 is described by Schwassmann as "Very faint, pretty large, extended, two nuclei, real??, RA and Dec uncertain." His position is also northeast of the galaxy, so the IC number pretty clearly includes the star 25 arcsec in that direction from the galaxy's center.
