A bright distinct clump of stars in a rich galactic starfield, rich, partially resolved, somewhat elongted east-west, much of the cluster is an unresolved haze, three 11th magnitude stars punctuate the western margin, the cluster NGC 7788 is visible 17' northwest

Small, rich, faint, several brighter stars at one end of an oblong area with a mist of fainter members. Rich field of other clusters, NGC7788 in the same field

John Herschel adopted his own position for "A double * in the p part ..." for
this cluster. However, not only is it preceding the center of the cluster, it
is 1 minute of time west as well. His father's position is much closer.
