Blue-white, an 8th magnitude companion just barely visible 3.4" to the southeast.

π Cap is the western star of the ρ Cap trio, three bright stars within a one degree area two of which are nice binaries, with ρ Cap 32' northeast and ο Cap 43' southeast.
