A white 7.7 magnitude star that is part of Σ 761, a lovely trio of stars 8' northwest of σ Ori, HD 294271 is the A component while the delicate 8th magnitude 8" pair HD 294272 represents members B and C, The σ Ori group is in a rich region 1° south of Alnitak, the entire area spectacular in the eyepiece.
