IC 803 = Arp 149 (among other names; see NED). This is an interacting system with at least four components. Javelle has it as "eF, S, ill-defined, at the limit of visibility." Curiosity drove the question of which of the four components he measured, given the obvious difficulty he had in seeing the thing.
His position, re-reduced with a modern position (from UCAC4) and proper motions for his comparison star, suggests that he chose a point near the second-brightest component close to the mean position for the four. Did he actually see a condensation there, or was it just the best he could do while pushing his optics to the limit? I suspect the latter since he does not mention a condensation.― IC Notes by Harold Corwin
